In the grand scheme of things, it does seem that we hear about how much better it is to give than receive. That the spirit of giving is a much bigger deal. I beg to differ a bit, because it doeasnt always apply. You see when you give money or canned food, or coats or presents to charities that distribute them you are truly feeling that spirit of giving. You are part of a chain that leads to someone less fortunate having a chance to keep their lives going and at this time of yuear, maybe bring a little extrra holiday happiness where there might not have been as much. Thius is where it changes. You see for the people at the other end of the chain, it's better to receive. The foods the receive, the coats, the clothing, the cleaning products, the medical attention... these things are things they need to receive to keep themselves going. To help give them a fighting chance. So for them, it is better to receive. When you throw a pass, you need someone to catch it or else the pass is incomplete. So in order for the giving to matter, someone must receive that gift or donation.
Hopefully what you give will help them tword becoming one of the givers in the future. So as I finish this, I will just say this...
Hopefully we can get to a point where we dont need to give as much, because that would mean their would be fewer who need to receive.
